Today we say a fond farewell to our graduate marketing trainee Ahmad Majidiasl. He has made a real impact during his year with us and it has been a pleasure working with him.  However, a new challenge now awaits with JLL and we all wish him the best of luck for the future! A quarterly review of the nine major UK cities shows total take up during Q1 of 2015 reached 1,975,800 sq.ft. This figure represents a level of 5% above the five year quarterly average. The research conducted by Bilfinger GVA reviewed activity in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle. The regional office market review figures showed a top performance by Manchester, boosted by BUPA’s 120,000 sq.ft deal in Salford Quays and PWC at No1 Spinningfields in the city centre, amounting to 49,400 sq.ft. A report published earlier in the year by CBRE, based on its latest annual European Occupier Survey, shows employee well-being has risen up the agenda for company strategies with workplace strategies becoming increasingly more important in the retention & attraction of staff and when making real estate decisions. Respondents for the CBRE research were mainly Western Europe and North American companies within multiple sectors, the largest of these being professional services, banking and finance, technology and telecommunications. Statistics released by JLL last month have shown a record amount of direct investment in real estate in the UK since pre-recession heights back in 2006. Direct investment for 2014 hit £65bn which is 3% more than the pre-recession figures of 2006. Yorkshire & Humber alone saw an increase in investment of 25% to £1.5bn. The office sector contributed the most with investment across the UK reaching £29bn. The latest edition of Lambert Smith Hampton’s Investment Transaction report has shown a rise in confidence in Yorkshire's Commercial Property market – meaning good news for all of those involved in the sector. During the third quarter of 2014, investment reached £354.83m; an increase of 91% compared to the previous quarter. This means the 2014 year to date property deals in the commercial property market in Yorkshire reached £1.01bn.
