Horncastle Group Plc have been delighted to support Run With It, a group working with schools and education providers in the area to design packages to support the needs of identified groups of children of all ages and abilities.
Based at The Education Centre within the KCOM Stadium, their packages focus on supporting schools with the delivery of the national curriculum specialising in English and Maths and the development of employability skills.
Over the past few weeks, over 60 children from two Hull primary schools have participated in English and Maths enrichment days supported by Horncastle.
Teaming up with Sirius West Academy, to target their feeder schools and make use of their mini-buses to transport the students to and from the KCOM Stadium, two groups from Christopher Pickering Primary School and one group from Francis Askew all attended to take part in these one-off days. The aim was to deliver functional literacy and numeracy activities around the stadium, demonstrating how the English and Maths they learn back in school is used in real life settings.
Activities included researching the stadium, the history of clubs who play there and the background of the KCOM Stadium, culminating in an interactive quiz. The students then took part in real-life problem-solving activities in the club’s retails shop.
The students all had a fantastic experience and feedback from both students and school staff was very good.
