During the course of the initial consultation process for the proposed Brough South development, the Highways Agency and ERYC identified the need to improve the capacity of the junction on the A63. A partially signalised roundabout is proposed in place of the existing signalised junction. Some members of the community expressed concerns about the scale and location of these proposals. In response to these concerns, we have since re-submitted an amended red line boundary plan showing where the proposed roundabout will be sited. We would like to clarify that all of the land required to build the roundabout is in the ownership of the development collaboration and no third party land will be required. The plan can be viewed on ERYC’s website.

As a result of further discussion with ERYC regarding the provision of primary school places in the area, we have decided to allocate land for a primary school on the site. As previously proposed, funds will also be allocated to South Hunsley Academy through Section 106 contributions to help improve their capacity and facilities. We are working closely with the Academy and the LEA.

Finally, we have altered the proposed location of several land uses on the master plan following comments from local residents. Residents living on the northern side of the railway line had expressed concerns about the proximity of the proposed retail development south of the railway line to existing residential areas. As such, this land has now been allocated for housing within the master plan and the retail element has been moved to the southern part of the site. The proportion of housing and commercial properties remains unchanged from the original application. ERYC are currently undertaking a re-consultation exercise in relation to these changes and a revised master plan can be viewed on ERYC’s website.
